and see the book we’ve turned his words into
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st
@ 253 London St. (bird, buried press + STPS headquarters)
bird, buried press + Show and Tell Poetry Series
would like to invite you
to hear Peter Gibbon read his new chapbook in its entirety,
to have the first chance to get a limited edition copy
of Peter’s chapbook, published by our small, humble
bird, buried press
for only $10!
Please join bird, buried press + Peter Gibbon
in partnership with the Show and Tell Poetry Series
at the home of Elisha Rubacha and Justin Million
the facilitators of bird, buried press and STPS
for our FIRST EVER CHAPBOOK LAUNCH! Peter will be coming from Toronto, so please help us show Peter how
supportive Peterborough can be for writers and artists.
We’re all in this scene together.
Peter Gibbon is a writer who currently resides in Toronto, Ontario. He has been published in various literary journals, both in print and online. While living abroad, he wrote a blog called Conduit Canada. Here are some of his poems online: http://puritan-magazine.com/index-of-goodbyes/http://www.thesteelchisel.ca/february2014_04.html
Also, we here at STPS want to remind you about Peter’s amazing work (with ilustrator Tanya Decarie) on underrated Canadian prose writer Marian Engel here: https://lunaticvillas.com/
After Peter’s reading, we would love to invite the audience
to stay and visit with us for a while, talk about poems, art,
or whatever’s clever.
We’re trying to build a community here,
so what better way to do that than inviting
the community home.
bird, buried press will have a few copies left for sale of “Emojis” by ELISHA RUBACHA, as well as a select issues of Rubacha’s zine “The Linen Thread”, “VILLAIN OG” by JUSTIN MILLION, and a new broadside by JOSEPH CASSIDY-SKOF.
Loose-leaf poems from our new occasionals series called “PAGE POETRY” (featuring poems by ELISHA RUBACHA and PHILIP KIENHOLZ) will be given out with the purchase of Peter’s book, AND, copies of “Emojis”, will be discounted with the purchase of Peter’s book! Just buy the book why don’tcha?
In terms of a cover, we hate covers, but we need cover moneys to be able to do more things, so, WE WILL BE ASKING FOR A 5$ COVER, IF YOU’RE ABLE, OTHERWISE P.W.Y.C., or (ideally) PURCHASE ONE OF Peter’s BOOKS for entry. Obviously we would never turn anyone away, ever, but
art ain’t free… it’s a tiny price to pay for inspiration.
Though we won’t turn folks with children away,
please be aware that there may be strong language,
as we don’t censor our artists.
Our home is a safe space.
Please don’t come if you’re a jerk.
